In readiness to mark the 20th Anniversary of the NHIS with a blood donation exercise, officials from the National Blood Service today engaged NHIA staff at the head office.
The pre-sensitization exercise was to prepare staff adequately for a successful blood donation exercise and to encourage them to go beyond the target of donating 1600 pints across all NHIS offices nationwide.
Sophia Mellis Blankson, a donor recruiter from the National Blood Service, lauded the NHIA’s initiative to partner the blood bank in celebrating two decades of access to healthcare. She called on other organisations to replicate this gesture to ensure the blood bank has enough blood supplies to cater for every emergency situation in our hospitals.
The blood donation exercise, which will take place nationwide from 15th to 17th Novemeber 2023, is dubbed ” 2D Blood Donation Exercise: 20 Years of Care, One Pint at a Time: Donate for Life!”
