The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially unveiled the outcomes of the 2023 Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) on November 28, 2023.
In a statement signed by Cassandra Team Ampofo, the Public Relations Officer for GES, it was revealed that out of 598,839 results obtained from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), 585,797 candidates have earned eligibility for placement.
A remarkable improvement from the previous year, the report indicates that 477,772 candidates, representing 81.56%, have automatically secured spots in their preferred choices.
However, the announcement also highlights a challenge for 108,025 candidates (18.44%) who could not be matched with any of their selected choices. In response, GES introduces the Self-Placement module, allowing candidates to manually select from available schools.
Steps for Self-Placement:
Obtain a placement pin code from an approved vendor.
Log onto the official CSSPS website (www.cssps.gov.gh).
Enter the ten-digit index number, appending 23 as the year of completion (e.g., 123456789023).
Enter the pin code details (serial number and pin).
Click submit and patiently wait for the placement to be displayed.
Print essential documents such as the enrollment form, placement slip, and prospectus.
The Self-Placement module empowers candidates to choose schools based on their preferences, including region, residential preference, school, and program of choice.
It allows flexibility, permitting changes until the enrollment process concludes.
Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of the Public Relations Unit at GES, emphasizes the merit-based nature of the Computerized School Placement and cautions against fraudulent activities where individuals promise to alter school assignments for a fee.
Heads of educational institutions are directed to commence registration and orientation activities starting from December 4, 2023.
For assistance and concerns, the public is urged to contact the helpline at 0308258001 or visit designated Solution Centres, including the National Solution Centre at the GNAT Hall, Adabraka, and Regional Solution Centres at various Regional Education Offices.
It is anticipated that this year’s process will be characterized by improved efficiency, mitigating the chaos witnessed in previous years.
