G/Cop. Micheal Appiah-Kubi of New Tafo-Akim District Police Command, was the brain behind the exposee and subsequent arrest of Gideon Kojo Asomani Addo 26 years, the alleged murderer of his mother, Madam Oforiwaa Mercy at Kyekyewere in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
In an exclusive interview with Nana Kwasi Asare, he explained that, a friend called Kwabena who is developing his piece of land in the same community the suspect lives, sought his assistance to arrest Gideon Kojo Asomani Addo for his alleged involvement in stealing his two thousand (2000) pieces of cement blocks meant for his building project on his land.
The matter was then reported to the police in Koforidua and upon persistent interrogations he admitted stealing and selling the cement blocks.
Based on his admission of stealing the cement blocks he was taken to the police station and further questioned him on his mother’s sudden disappearance which was reported to the police some seven (7) months ago. He admitted to the hineous crime and led investigators to the crime scene.
The matter is currently with the police pending further investigations.
Background:
A 26-year-old, Gideon Kojo Asomani Addo is currently in the grips of the Ghana Police Service for allegedly murdering his mother at Kyekyewere, near Nyamekrom.
The deceased has been identified as Mad Mercy Oforiwaa who is also a retired staff of the Roads and Highways Authority.
According to the source, Madam Oforiwaa Mercy was declared a missing person some 7 months ago after she mysteriously vanished from the area leaving her family in distress.
The family reported the matter to the police who officially declared her missing with posters in town asking people to provide information about her whereabouts.
After police investigations, it was disclosed that Madam Oforiwaa Mercy was killed by her son who has been identified as Kojo.
In a viral video available on social media, Kojo could be seen in company with police officers when he took them to an uncompleted building to show them where he had buried the corpse of his mother.
The video also showed his aunty and sister weeping bitterly for this act committed by their brother and son.
