As part of the activities to bolster already existing relations with friendly countries, Ghana’s Foreign Ministry organised a sports and cultural event dubbed “A Day with the Diplomatic Community” at the Ghana Armed Forces Sports Complex, Burma Camp in Accra on Saturday 9th December, 2023.
The event which was the second edition was held under the theme “Friendship in Unity”.
The Chief Director for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ambassador Ramses Cleland, in his welcome remarks, stated that the event was to foster community spirit and friendship among staff of the Ministry and members of the Diplomatic Community through sports and cultural activities.
“This Ministry is a firm believer in the power that culture holds in connecting peoples across borders, and I must say Ghana is particularly lucky to be home to a Diplomatic Community who enriches our country’s experience by embracing our unique cultures while sharing their countries music, art, food, language, culture and sports with us through various channels” he added.
The Ambassador of Lebanon to Ghana and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Ghana, H.E. Maher Kheir commended the Ministry for the significant event as it fosters community spirit, strengthens cooperation and friendship between peoples and countries. He reiterated the Diplomatic Community’s commitment to coordinate with Ghana in order to have more similar exciting programmes in the future.
Members of the Diplomatic Community and staff of the Ministry participated in various sporting activities such as soccer, 100m race, board games, badminton, basketball, lime and spoon race, sack race, and karaoke while enjoying sumptuous food and drinks which were provided by countries such as Lebanon, Korea, Japan, Switzerland, Peru, Brazil, Libya, France and Ghana.
