The West Akyem Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) has said as far as the records of the Municipal Assembly was concerned, Asamankese has only one legitimate Chief who is Osaberima Adu Darko l who has been gazetted by the National House of Chiefs.
The Muticipal Security Council (MUSEC) after thoroughly reviewing the Security situations
involving the two parties said that MUSEC has NO jurisdiction over the adjudication of Chieftaincy Disputes in the Municipality and solely relies on the decisions of Court of Competent jurisdiction and the Regional and National House of Chiefs.
In a communique issued and signed by Municipal Chief Executive Honourable Seth Oduro Boadu after Security Council Meeting said that pcace and sccurity in the Municipality was of paramount importance to the Council and every efforts would be made to ensure that the Citizens lives and properties are protected, adding, MUSEC has NOT been served with any injunction of any sort
from a court of competent jurisdiction restraining the celebration of festivals and performance of traditional rites in Asamankese and its environs which is expected to begin from 15th to 24th December 2023.
The communique stated that “For the avoidance of doubt, MUSEC wishes to state without any equivocation that individual or group of persons that intends taking the law into their own hands to disrupt the peace and tranquility enjoyed in the Asamankese Municipality.
“MUSEC wishes to remind the general public that, Ghana is not a banana republic where people can take the laws into their own hands, but a Country governed by laws as enshrined in the 1992 Republican Constitution. That MUSEC wishes to appeal to the general public to volunteer information to the Security Agencies on the activities of any person(s) who may want to foment trouble in the Municipality.”
“That MUSEC wishes to once again assure the general public that, the Council is very much on top of the Security situations and every step would be taken to protect the lives and properties of all Citizens in the Municipality.”
