Ghanaians have been reassured by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the recent blackouts, which have reminded people of the 2015 “Dumsor” crisis, are not going to happen again.
The party makes a point of saying that “Dumsor” is history and that it is dedicated to ensuring that widespread power outages like those that occurred during the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration never occur again.
In an interview with an Accra based radio station, Alfred Thompson, a spokesman for the NPP, cautioned Ghanaians from drawing conclusions about the recent power disruptions as a return to “Dumsor.”
He emphasized the government’s concerted efforts to guarantee the country’s steady supply of electricity.
“We are saying to Ghanaians that it is not a dumsor era and we will never let them go under that challenge in this country again.”
“And that is why we are working assiduously to make sure that the lights are on and that is why we are working assiduously to make sure that the laws are reduced…and we will work in the interest of Ghanaians,” he stated.
