A 9-year-old girl has died after she was knocked down by a speeding car at Anyinam in the Atiwa East District of the Eastern Region.
The accident occurred at the “That Day Hotel” stretch of the Anyinam to Nkawkaw section of the Accra to Kumasi Highways. The car was ascending a hill on that stretch.
The body of the deceased- a Muslim was released to the bereaved family today Tuesday, April 7, 2020, by the Anyinam for burial.
Information gathered by mybrytfmonline.com is that the girl was sent buy Mobile Phone Credit but was crashed by a speeding Toyota Corolla Saloon Car while crossing the road. The girl was dragged by the unregistered car to a distance while the driver lost control of the steering wheel as the car somersault several times before landing in a ditch.
The driver and two others on board were in critical condition hence referred from Engresi Hospital to Saviour Hospital at Akyem Osiem.
Anyinam Police is investigating the accident.
In 2019, a total of 2,983 pedestrian knockdowns were recorded in Ghana out of which 740 of the victims died.
