An Elder of the Methodist Church in Ekumfi Ekrawful in the Central Region, Elder Arhin has took to his heels after allegedly setting ablaze the room of his niece over an existing rift which several individuals including chief of the area have tried resolving but all to no avail as the parties have for a while been on no talking terms.
The Methodist Elder is suspected to have carried out the abominable act having consistently asserted to have bought majority of the items his niece is enjoying in her room at the least provocation, particularly when he sees the victim talking with a man.
The Victim, Rebecca Arhin, in an interview with journalists narrated, she went out on Tuesday evening around 9:30PM but upon her arrival, she saw smoke emanate from her room, hence quickly rushed inside only for her to witness her room was on fire.
She then yelled for help, which got neighbors of the house come out to offer her help, but unfortunately had all her belongings which includes her fan, television set, fridge, chairs, among others all burnt beyond recognition.
Some eyewitnesses who rushed to the scene to salvage the situation noted that the suspect initially prevented them from quenching the fire.
They added that the Methodist Elder upon beholding the increasing number of people trooping in to quench the fire, swiftly gathered a few belonging of his and bolted.
Meanwhile, Hon. Zachariah Quansah, the Assemblyman for Ekumfi Ekrawful Electoral Area appealed on the general public to support the victim with the little they can offer her since she has lost all her belongings to the fire.
He further added that a report has been made to the police for an investigation and a manhunt lauched to arrest the suspect.
