Former National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddy Blay is skeptical that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s recent reshuffle will have any bearing on him during his final time in office.
Speaking with Starrfm, Mr. Freddy Blay stated that the government led by Nana Addo finds the reorganization “too late.”
“The circumstances might not be the same today, and people may have a change of opinion, but to me, it is getting a bit too late to effect any meaningful changes in terms of a reshuffle of the government,” he said.
Adding that, “It was two years or a year ago that he [President Akufo-Addo] needed to do the reshuffle. If you recall, some members of the majority caucus in parliament insisted under some circumstances that there ought to be some changes, but the President requested for one minister to conclude the IMF negotiations before he could do that.”
On January 7, 2017, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo ordered the most radical ministerial reorganization since he assumed office.
The reshuffle has an impact on 13 current ministers of state, comprising 10 cabinet ministers and 2 regional ministers.
