Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, is an independent politician who has openly declared himself to be the solution to Ghana’s economic problems.
On March 18, 2024, the creator and leader of The New Force voiced his dissatisfaction with the way the nation’s economy has been handled over the years in an interview with Nhyira FM.
He attacked Ghana’s reliance on outside help, arguing that better use of the country’s natural resources would have prevented the need for it.
“Although I made half a million outside Ghana, all the industrialisation and projects I have in my empire came from the resources I mobilised in this country.
“I don’t blame those who think I made my wealth from drugs and other vices. It is common in our part of the world that people believe you cannot make it through hard work without politics and drugs.
“This is why we must change our minds and understand that the black man is also capable. I know that with time, people will see who I truly am,” he said.
Cheddar accepted the general belief that he might have gotten rich by illegal means, such as drug trafficking.
He refuted this myth, claiming that Africans are capable of achieving prosperity by legal means.
In an effort to eliminate Ghana’s need on organizations such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for financial assistance, he promised to produce a sizable amount of revenue domestically.
