Firefighters from the Eastern Regional Headquarters Sub-station have successfully extinguished a raging fire that engulfed approximately four shops at the Koforidua Central Market.
The blaze, which occurred around 5:00pm Sunday threatened to cause extensive damage.
“Two pumps have been dispatched to contain the raging fire” the Ghana National Fire Service said.
The swiftly arrival by firefighters brought the fire under control without any reported injuries or fatalities.
However, items in the affected shops were burnt.
The heroic efforts of the firefighters have been praised for their prompt response and effective containment of the fire, preventing it from spreading further within the market area.
Residents and shop owners alike expressed relief and gratitude for the quick action taken by the emergency responders.
The Ghana National Fire Service is currently investigating the cause of the fire, and precautionary measures are being put in place to ensure the safety of the market and surrounding areas.
