The Upper Manya Krobo district is gripped with shock and concern following the discovery of a young woman believed to have been killed by her assailants and dumped in a river at Akotoe, a farming community.
Some local residents found the body of the deceased floating on the river.
Community members promptly alerted local authorities and sought counsel from village elders.
As dawn broke the next day, a collective effort was made to return to the scene, only to uncover further distressing details.
The victim, believed to be an 18-year-old female, was found with a sack filled with stones tied securely around her waist, suggesting a calculated attempt to conceal the crime by sinking her body.
Despite these efforts, the weight failed to submerge her, leaving her remains visible, and intensifying suspicions of foul play.
The Police at Asesewa District command were immediately notified, and an official report was lodged.
Police dispatched personnel to the scene and the young woman’s body has been retrieved and transferred to the police hospital morgue in Accra for further examination as they work tirelessly to unravel the truth behind this tragic incident.
The Krobo enclave has recently recorded mysterious killings of women in the area.
One suspect was apprehended a month ago reportedly confessing to the crimes but alleging involvement in ritual practices orchestrated by a chop bar operator.
