Lt Col Justina Frimpong, the esteemed first female Commanding Officer of the Transportation Battalion Unit of the Ghana Armed Forces, returned to her roots at Ghana Senior High School in Koforidua to support the school.
Lt Col Frimpong, hailing from Koforidua Oyoko in the Eastern Region, graced her alma mater with a donation of 100 mono desks on Friday, May 10th, 2024.
The generous donation, a response to an appeal made by the school authorities during the 67th Independence Day Anniversary celebration, aims to alleviate the furniture deficiency plaguing the institution.
Lt Col Frimpong, deeply moved by the plight of her alma mater, pledged support to her former school beyond the desk donation, promising to engage her year group (1999) to extend further assistance.
During a brief address, Lt Col Frimpong expressed her indebtedness to Ghana Senior High School and underscored her commitment to its advancement.
Mrs. Diana Akosua Mintah, the Headmistress, conveyed profound gratitude on behalf of the school management, emphasizing the transformative impact the desks will have in addressing the furniture deficit.
In addition to the desk donation, the Headmistress seized the opportunity to appeal to stakeholders, philanthropists, NGOs, and particularly to Lt Col Frimpong and her year group, to support the school’s initiatives, including the renovation of the assembly hall roofing and girls’ dormitory washrooms.
