The New Juaben South Municipal Education Directorate has commenced a three day workshop for all SISOs, Head teachers as well as Maths and Science teachers respectively as part of the initiative of the Korea International Cooperation Agency KOICA.
The Standard Operation Procedure (SOP)/ Teacher Learner Circle (TLC) Leadership Training centered on the theme “Promotion of Girls’ Competency in Maths and Science With Gender- responsive Pedagogy”.
The opening section of the training workshop for Maths and Science teachers on Wednesday 5th June, 2024 focused on leveraging on TLCs to promote the professional development of the teacher , how to organize TLC at the circuit and district level and it proper implementation to enhance learning outcomes.
Highlighting some key points during her remarks , the Focal Person of the KOICA initiative in the New Juaben South Municipality Hajia Rukaya Issah noted by saying “the TLC is the heartbeat of the entire program so when we get our TLC right it means the program will succeed”
“because it is during TLCs that we come out with challenging and difficult topics that we encounter within the curriculum so that during TLCs our colleagues will help to best understand those topics so that we go and teach well to improve the learning outcomes of our students”
“as teachers we should also note that the TLC has come to stay so that even after the KOICA initiative we still have to continue because day in and day out there are new forms of doing things so we need to learn from time to time to sharpen our skills for effective delivery in our various classrooms” she urged the teachers.
The Municipal Director of Education for New Juaben South Mustapha Haruna Appiah stressed on the importance to set and follow a standard operation procedure in the implementation of the KOICA initiative for its success.
According to the Director, when the initiative is implemented through a Standard Operation Procedure it will help improve learning outcomes in the municipality.
