The US State Department denied visas to nearly 60% of African students applying to US universities last year, with Southern Africa having a lower rate of 19%.
Asia came in second globally in US student visa denial.
According to a report by Shorelight and the President’s Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration that analyses State Department data, countries not affected by high denial include South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, and Lesotho.
