Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made it clear that the incoming NDC government will aggressively pursue accountability from current appointees and members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Reiterating the pledge made by NDC leader John Dramani Mahama at the party’s manifesto announcement on Saturday, August 24, at the University of Education, Winneba, Asiedu Nketiah declared that the NDC plans to look into and bring charges against any dishonest officials in the current government.
Speaking to an assembly of NDC adherents in Somanya, Eastern Region, he declared that people who characterize the NDC as a scary alternative are merely attempting to evade accountability.
He added that the NDC is unfazed by claims that the party represents a “scary alternative” to the NPP.
Asiedu Nketiah contended that the NPP leadership’s threats are a ploy to prevent voters from selecting John Dramani Mahama, claiming that people who are afraid of being held responsible for their acts are the ones who are voicing these worries.
“That is why President Mahama said in Winneba that the next NDC government will not act out of greed or mistreat Ghanaians for selfish interests.
“For those claiming that the alternative is scary, tell them that it is only scary for wrongdoers. If you are a thief or a criminal, the alternative should indeed be scary. Under our government, no corrupt individual will go unpunished.”
