Zimbabwe will cull 200 elephants due to an unprecedented drought causing food shortages.
The culling will help manage the ballooning elephant population, which the country’s environment minister described as more than necessary.
The elephants will be hunted in areas where they have clashed with humans, including Hwange, home of Zimbabwe’s largest natural reserve.
The country is estimated to have about 100,000 elephants, making it the home of the world’s second-biggest elephant population after Botswana.
