The Nkosuohene of Kwahu Nkwatia Nana Owiredu Wadie I has handed over a fully furnished Kindergarten Classroom block he built to the Ghana Education Service at Asikasu, a farming community in New Juaben North municipality in Eastern Region.
Asikasu and neighboring farming communities of seven were did not have dedicated KG classroom block for early learners which kept many children of school going age out of school.
The makeshift structures were used,a situation which forced some of the children to either sit home or walk long distance to access education in other communities.
Nana Owiredu Wadie I, upon hearing the plight of the children in the area,cut sod for the construction of the modern KG Block funded by his nonprofit organization,Kabaka Foundation, completed within six months and handed over to the Ghana Education Service on his birthday.
The fully furnished KG block facility has two classrooms KG 1 and 2 , TV room, washroom, and office. The classrooms are stocked with tables, chairs and learning materials
During the commissioning of the KG Block,the New Juaben North Municipal Education Director Helina Amegatse describe the facility as one of its kind in the region, optimistic it will improve learning outcomes.
Nana Owiredu Wadie I emphasized the importance of early childhood education in shaping future leaders.
He stated, “Quality facilities and educational resources significantly impact children’s learning and development. This new kindergarten block represents a significant step forward in our commitment to providing quality education for our children
Henry Larbi, Executive Director of Kabaka Foundation said the intervention underscores Kabaka foundation’s commitment to helping achieve the sustainable development Goals on education.
“The idea is to help achieve UN sustainable development Goal four. That’s achieving quality education. Looking at the kids, the Kabaka foundation thought that the kids need to start well so we needed to provide them this educational infrastructure to get the best education they need”said Henry Larbi, Executive Director of Kabaka Foundation
Headmistress of Asikasu Presby Basic School Clementina Ahenkwa Mensah was elated about the project stating that it will create access and provide quality early childhood education for seven communities in the area.
Nana Owiredu Wadie I, donated learning materials, bags and uniforms to the KG pupils.
The communities heaped praises on Nana Owiredu Wadie I, for the intervention which they believe will have long term impact on development of the community and the country at large.
