Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources George Mireku-Duker received a delegation from Tanzania, comprising of officials from their Ministries of Mines and Minerals and Finance, to conclude their understudy of Ghana’s Domestic Gold Buying Programme which they started almost two years under the auspices of Bank of Ghana, Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and other agencies.
It is refreshing to indicate that, the Tanzanian government has commenced the domestic gold buying programme, with a declaration to purchase 20% of all gold produced by all Large-Scale Operators in the country.
The deputy minister took them through the final technical bits and guided them to take precautionary measures to ensure that Tanzania is not seen as not friendly to investors.
The Tanzanian delegation expressed their heartfelt appreciation to Ghana for leading the charge and providing them with all the guidance as they start theirs.
