The Director of Legal Affairs of the New Patriotic Party, Lawyer Gary Nimako, has announced that the four affected Members of Parliament whose seats have been declared vacant can attend parliamentary duties tomorrow despite the Supreme Court ruling.
This comes after the Supreme Court staged the ruling of the Speaker, allowing the affected parliamentarians to occupy their seats beside their respective leaders.
During an interview with Bryt Adekye Mu Nsem on October 21, with Kwamina Sam Biney, Lawyer Nimako stated that, once the Supreme Court has put stay of execution on the ruling of the speaker, the four affected parliament would be able to go to parliament on Tuesday.
According to him, the highest court has ordered that , both the majority and minority affected parliamentarians can attend Parliamentary proceedings and occupy their seats beside their respective leaders and hearing the determination of the matters in court .
“The order from the supreme court must be obeyed by everyone since it’s valid and still in the system but if you disobey, you are contempt with the court, and also can go back to the same court or higher court to make it overturned and you can’t say you can defend the order because it’s not served for only you”.
“No one has to disobey the court because if you do so , you have to find a way to make it clear to the court “
“We are not in jungle state but rather republic of Ghana and we are bonded by rule of law not rule of men so if you don’t understand anything by the court, then you go back to the same court , we should be careful because if you play with supreme court you will be in trouble” Mr Nimako emphasized.
