“We as workers of Ghana water company live within our communities and hence also face the challenges been experienced now, so Ghanaians should know we are all suffering” Kojo Daase, Eastern Regional Communication manager of the GWCL has emphasized.
According to him, the current intermittent supply of water in Koforidua and other areas within the region is not a plan against anyone as workers of the company also faces the problem the public go through when the taps are not flowing.
Speaking on BRYT Adekye Mu Nsem with Kwamina Sam Biney, Mr. Daase said his outfit sources of water comes from Kpong in Lower Manya Krobo, Bukunor in Upper manya Krobo, from Densu river, river Afram, Home and Suhyen spring as well as the Birim river.
He revealed the GWCL has since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic about four years ago has been rationing the supply of water to the people in the regional capital.
He said his outfit needs to produce 40,000 cubic meters per day but is only to do only a little over 17,000 cubic meters per day, which is far less than what the people needs.
He, therefore, urged the public to ensure they store water enough especially it the dry season approaches on order to limit the challenges they face in this era of rationing.
