The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has successfully concluded a 4-day informative dissemination workshop on Wildlife Resources Management Act, 2023(1115) at the Volta Regional capital HO on Thursday, 31st October, 2024.
The workshop which began in the Western region and also took place in the central and Greater Accra Regions seeks to engage key stakeholders in discussion on the implementation of the legislation and gather valuable feedback on the challenges and opportunities for its sucessful operationalization.
Representing the Deputy Minister responsible for Lands and Forestry, Hon. Akwasi Konadu, Mr. Joseph Osiakwan, Technical Director for Forestry at the Ministry opined that a successful implementation of Wildlife Resources Management Act will indeed be a shared achievement that demonstrates Stakeholders commitment to protecting Ghana’s rich biodiversity and securing sustainable livelihoods for our communities and future generation.
He assured that, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources is committed to the effective implementation of this important piece of legislation for the efficient and progressive preservation and management of the wildlife resources of our country, in the spirit of transparency, anchored on integrity and utmost good faith, for the benefit of the Ghanaian people.
Mr. Osiakwan also recognised and commended participants in the regions for their participation and contribution to the overall success of the workshop and hoped that they will spread the news on the Act.
Lawyer Sheila Kwakyewaa and Lawyer Osei Opoku took turns to explain the legal frameworks of the Act to the understanding of all participants. They took participants through the background of the Act, overview of the Act and the legislation consideration.
The Lawyers led the discussions on the possibilities of the proposed legislation for Community Resource Management Areas (CREMA) establishments and operationalization.
The educative stakeholder dialogue afforded participants the opportunity to ask questions and make meaningful contributions towards a deeper understanding of the Act and their practical applications within their environment.
