Ghana’s second lady, Samira Bawumia, is urging citizens to vote for her husband, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, in the upcoming general election.
She emphasized his honesty, knowledge, and problem-solving style, describing these traits as essential for tackling the country’s present issues and fulfilling the hopes of the young.
Speaking Monday in Accra at a book launch for her “Samira Bawumia Literacy Prize” program, the Second Lady described Dr. Bawumia as a leader who faces obstacles with creative solutions and a strong sense of duty.
“He has solutions to our problems. Dr. Bawumia is a very intelligent man. He is an honest man. He works very hard and applies himself, and this is a man bursting with ideas and doesn’t always do the same things and expects different results.
“Bawumia is always thinking outside the box and I think that is the kind of leadership we need as young people. We need somebody who will leapfrog Ghana’s development. We need somebody who can look beyond where we are at and say, ‘Look, we can do better and we can do it in a faster way to get to where we are going,’” Mrs. Bawumia said.
She also emphasized what she refers to as “the transformative impact” of Dr. Bawumia’s digitalization plan, emphasizing how it may lessen corruption and create the framework for economic expansion.
