Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Western North Region’s Member of Parliament for Juaboso, has expressed worry about recent Electoral Commission (EC) measures in his district.
Akandoh claimed that the appointment of 26 poll workers by the EC who were reportedly associated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) could damage the legitimacy of the next elections.
Additionally, he criticized the Sefwi Juaboso District Electoral Officer’s transfer, calling it politically motivated.
Speaking to reporters in his district, he cautioned that if the EC’s actions are not immediately stopped, they could destabilize the country.
“The sudden and unexplained transfer of the District Electoral Officer in this critical period, that is one month to the 2024 general election, is not just suspicious, it is strategic in her place.
“A hand-picked replacement by Dr. Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, has taken over and immediately began appointing known MPP delegates as polling officers.
“But let them hear us clearly, no amount of rigging, no number of planted polling offices, and no manipulation by the EC can save them from the inevitable defeat that awaits them.” He stated.
