A distress call was received reporting an accident at mile ’40’ near Fufulso in the Central Gonja district of the Savannah Region.
A crew of rescue officers led by STNO I Prince Edzziegbe was quickly dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the crew observed that a Yutong Bus and a Cargo Truck were off the road and mangled together with some passengers trapped.
They quickly got to work and rescued forty-nine (49) passengers but both drivers and two other passengers reported.
The crew handed over the victims to the Police and Ambulance Service personnel at the scene.
Preliminary investigation to ascertain the actual cause of the accident revealed that the bus driver left his lane to overtake but was unsuccessful and collided with the oncoming vehicle head-on in the process.
