Baba Jamal, the National Chairman’s Retail Campaign’s deputy campaign coordinator and a former member of parliament for Akwatia, has urged Muslims to support the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the next general elections as he believes the NDC is the only political party that save Ghana in hard times like this.
Speaking during a durbar in the Ashanti Region’s Nhyiaeso, Mr. Baba Jamal characterized the NDC as a party that has been chosen by God and is ready to help Ghanaians out of their financial difficulties.
He made an allegorical comparison, citing passages from the Quran, saying that God (Allah) had once driven elephants into the wilderness with eagles. He urged Ghanaians to do the same by voting out the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which is represented by the elephant, in favor of the NDC, which is represented by the eagle.
“We want Muslims by deeds, not Muslims by words,” Baba Jamal stated.
“The NDC is the modern-day saviour Allah is using to alleviate the suffering of Ghanaians caused by the NPP government.”
He further said that self-described Muslim Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia had not behaved in the Islamic community’s best interests by opposing a scheme that would have established a Muslim morgue. He compared this to previous President John Mahama, who, while not being a Muslim, he said showed greater respect for Islamic values.
