Minister-designate for Eastern region, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey has called on all stakeholders in the region to come on board, and support the Regional Coordinating Council in ensuring the development of the region holistically.
Despite being surprise of her nomination by the president, Mrs Awatey expressed her readiness to take up the challenge and work hard to justify her new appointment.
President Mahama as part of constitutional order nominated 16 persons to represent him in the various regions including Mrs Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey for the Eastern region.
Speaking to Kwamina Sam Biney on Bryt fm Adekyee Mu Nsem a day after her nomination, Mrs Awatey was grateful to the President, the Vice President Prof Naana Opoku Agyemang, regional executives of the party, constituency women organisers as well as supporters of the NDC.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Mrs Awatey holds certificate from the Presbyterian College of Education
She holds Mphil in Leadership from University of Professional Studies, Accra.
She is currently pursuing a PhD in migration at the University of Ghana
EXPERIENCE
She emphasized that she has acquired a lot of knowledge in leadership roles as a professional educator, former Assembly member, former presiding member and a deputy regional women organiser of the NDC.
She also has wealth experience in governance, education and community development.
Mrs Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey is expected to appear before the Appointments Committee of Parliament for vetting before her approval b the House.
