Acting Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has responded to public concerns regarding President John Mahama’s use of a private jet owned by his brother, Ibrahim Mahama, for official trips to Senegal and The Gambia.
In an interview with TV3, Kwakye Ofosu clarified that the jet had been made available to the President prior to the 2024 general elections and at no expense to the Ghanaian taxpayer.
He emphasized that the decision was a temporary arrangement due to the presidential aircraft undergoing a review by the Communications Squadron, the Air Force unit responsible for its operation. “This arrangement has not cost the taxpayer a dime,” Kwakye Ofosu stated, underscoring President Mahama’s commitment to financial prudence amidst Ghana’s economic challenges.
The spokesperson reassured the public that once the review of the official presidential jet is completed, the President will revert to its use.
