The Kwahu West Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region has directed that from henceforth, all residents must wear face masks to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus to the area.
A statement issued by the Assembly under the signature of the Municipal Chief Executive, Yaw Owusu Addo, on Thursday stated that “The General Public is hereby respectfully informed that henceforth, each and everyone in the Kwahu West Municipality is required to wear a face mask as part of the National Effort to contain the spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic”
The statement added “Notably, Commercial Drivers, Passengers, Tricycle Operators, Market Women and Men, Petty Traders, General Merchants, Restaurants Operators, Food Vendors, Barbers, Butchers, Hairdressers, Hawkers and indeed all citizens are advised to note this order for strict compliance.
The Eastern Region, in general, has recorded 51 confirmed cases of Coronavirus out of national tally of 1042 as of April 19, 2020. As of April 22, the national figure has increased to 1154 but it has not been made known if case count in the region has increased.
Most of the cases in the Eastern region were recorded among construction workers working on the Tema to Akosombo-Mpakadan Railway Project.
