Accra – Social activist and lawyer, Oliver Barker Vormawor, has issued an apology and pledged to take down a controversial social media post after being summoned before a vetting committee over allegations of bribery.
Vormawor appeared before the committee following concerns that his post suggested that members of the vetting panel had accepted bribes from nominees to secure their approval.
However, ahead of his vetting session, he clarified that he had not accused the chairman or members of the committee of engaging in any corrupt practices.
“I have not accused the chairman of the vetting committee or the NDC members of submitting themselves to the Oral Committee,” Vormawor stated. He further explained that his post was not intended to suggest that committee members had accepted bribes.
His remarks came in response to growing controversy surrounding his comments, which some interpreted as an attack on the integrity of the vetting process. The allegations had sparked public debate, leading to calls for Vormawor to explain his position.
In a bid to clear the air and avoid further misunderstandings, Vormawor apologized for any unintended implications of his statement and assured the committee that he would remove the post.
However, his statement may help ease tensions over the matter as the vetting process continues.
