There was near chaos Saturday morning at Anyinam in the Atiwa East District of the Eastern Region after illegal miners clashed with a mining company.
Currently, personnel of operation Vanguard and Anyinam Police are at the scene to restore calm.
Information gathered indicates that the illegal miners from the community have for some months now invaded the concession of the mining company mining in the Birim River and banks of the river.
An attempt by the company to drive the illegal miners away turned chaotic as the miners started to attack the workers of the company.
The company then invited Operation Vanguard and Anyinam Police to intervene.
One person has been arrested others have fled.
Currently, the security team is dismantling equipment being used by illegal miners.
