The Ministry of Health is pleased to announce that the newly appointed Minister, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has officially commenced his duties, marking the beginning of a new chapter in a collective effort to improve the health and well-being of Ghanaians.
His assumption of duty was greeted with a staff durbar to officially introduce him and create an avenue for him to engage with management and staff members.
In an introductory address, Alhaji Hafiz Adam, the Chief Director of the Ministry, highlighted the importance of the principle of neutrality in the Civil Service and urged all staff to collaborate with the new minister to develop and implement innovative solutions, strengthen the healthcare system, and promote a culture of excellence and accountability within the Ministry.
He added that the ministry staff should demonstrate and abide by principles such as loyalty, honesty, and fairness to ensure and enhance the progress of the ministry.
Taking his turn to address the gathering, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome from staff and indicated that his presence at the Ministry is in accordance with the Government’s clear order to ensure that the country has quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare.
Hon. Akandoh emphasized the importance of Teamwork and urged staff to work with him to address the pressing health challenges facing our nation, including the uneven distribution of healthcare professionals, inadequate healthcare infrastructure, and the rising burden of infectious and non-communicable diseases.
He further disclosed that the government has promised to provide incentives for health workers for them to accept postings in rural areas.
“With your support, I am confident that we will overcome Challenges in the health sector, and we will be victorious in achieving one health in the country,” he stated.
Some directors and staff at the meeting had the opportunity to interact and express their enthusiasm to work with the new minister.
