The recently appointed Director-General of the National Road Safety Authority, Abraham Amaliba, Esq. conducted road inspections within the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area on Monday.
The exercise saw him visit pedestrian bridge construction sites at Tetegu, Lapaz and Kawukudi.
Mr. Amaliba visited these sites to assess the current state of the facilities and identify any areas that will require improvement to ensure the safety and convenience of pedestrians.
Speaking to the media as the inspections went on the Director-General revealed that road safety enforcement will be strengthened to ensure the safety of Ghana’s road users.
In order to save lives, there was the need for strict enforcement of pedestrian bridge usage.
The Director-General engaged some commercial motorcycle riders and transport operators and urged them to adhere to road regulations, in the course of the inspections.
He acknowledged the ongoing discussions regarding the legalization of commercial motorcycle operations and advised riders to prioritize safety while awaiting government green-light.
