The 2025 Eastern Regional STEM Camp has been held for hundreds of junior high school students at Kibi Presbyterian College of Education in the Eastern region.
The Eastern Regional STEM Camp is an annual event aimed at mentoring students with the requisite academic knowledge as well as equipping them with STEM skills to drive innovation among students.
The 2025 STEM Camp was on the theme “Empowering Learners , and Unlocking Full Potential Through Innovation and Transformative Solution” featuring various STEM activities and mentorship program sections engaging students with their mentors , chaperones and coordinators to receive the needed knowledge and skills set.
Addressing the students on the theme “Empowering Learners and Unlocking Full Potential Through Innovation and Transformative Solution” to climax the event, the Eastern Regional Director of Education Mrs Ivy Asantewa Owusu admonished the students to embrace Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education because it is a critical necessity in driving development in every nation.
Mrs. Ivy Asantewa Owusu in her address noted by saying “when you want to unlock your full potential through innovation and transformative solution you need to be a critical thinker who will think outside the box, you need to be innovative”
“As a student if you want to be innovative or transformative then you should have a mentor ,you should have a mentor and should have a coach that is why you have your coordinators and chaperones with you, you need to collaborate and then again you should persevere”
“you need to be tolerant and you need to have patience if you really want to be a transformative , then again if you are here and you are championing the objective and the idea of STEM education then you need knowledge therefore you need to be obedience” she said.
On her part, the Eastern Regional Minister Hon. Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey emphasized the need to invest in STEM education saying the current government as part of its reset Ghana agenda placed great emphasis on STEM education to equip the citizenry with the knowledge and skills they require to navigate to transform the technological landscape of the country.
The Minister however called on all stakeholders to ensure that every learner has access to quality STEM education, reiterating the need to create an environment that nurtures curiosity and encourages enquiry into innovation and creativity.
Also in attendance to grace and climax the 2025 STEM Camp were Eastern Regional STEM Coordinator Louisa Amanor, Principal of Kibi College of Education Rev. Dr. Charles Fosu- Ayarkwah , Municipal Directors of Education in the region, and many other dignitaries.
