NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey claims that the opposition NPP is attempting to rewrite its legacy by taking credit for the cedi’s recent appreciation.
He claimed that while separating themselves from the serious economic mess they caused while in power, they now desire fame.
The Ketu South MP said the NPP is using selective economic narratives to hide its shortcomings when he spoke on JoyNews’ PM Express on Tuesday, May 13.
“They want to take credit for the recent cedi stability but forget that they were the very architects of the collapse,” he said.
“You can’t run away from the disaster and come back when it looks like a fix is on the way.”
Mr. Kwetey accuses the NPP of hypocrisy and deception.
“It’s almost as if they caused the house to burn down and now want applause for showing up with a cup of water,” he said.
“They ran away from every negative indicator—the inflation, the debt, the hardships—but now that the currency is inching back up, they want to suddenly own it.”
He charged that after Ghana’s economy collapsed under their leadership, the NPP abandoned its responsibilities, only to reappear with boastful rhetoric now that the NDC government is carrying out difficult but essential changes.
