The Educational Director of Amansie Central in the Ashanti region, Elder Vincent Ameyaw, has urged teachers to take their teaching responsibilities seriously and dedicate sufficient time to their students.
This call to action follows recent revelations by the West African Certificate Examination Council (WAEC) about teacher involvement in examination malpractice.
According to Elder Ameyaw, teachers who effectively teach their students would not encourage them to cheat in examinations. “As a teacher, if you teach your students well, you will not support the students to cheat at examination centers,” he stated.
Speaking in an interview with the media, Elder Vincent Ameyaw emphasized the importance of teachers fulfilling their duties to prevent students from resorting to malpractices.
Elder Ameyaw also counseled students to study diligently and allocate sufficient time for academic preparation.
However, he expressed concern about students in the Amansie Central area being lured into illegal galamsey activities, noting that some pretend to attend school while actually engaging in such practices, earning them the label of “galamsey kimpers.”
“Teachers must take their jobs seriously and desist from exams malpractice,” Elder Ameyaw stressed, highlighting the need for professionalism and integrity in the teaching profession.
