As part of activities lined-up to mark this year’s Fire Safety Week and International FireFighters’ Day, the Ashanti Regional Fire Command conducted a simulation exercise at the new Kumasi Kejetia Market.
The simulation exercise was to test the response procedures of the region for fire and related emergency situations using applied training, testing inter- agency cooperation and effective coordination and identifying gaps, weaknesses and areas requiring further training.
The Regional Fire Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service, ACFO I Henry F. Giwah, in his address to the media admonished users of the market facility to keep Fire Service emergency numbers handy and call early in times of emergency.
The Firefighters and Rescuers deployed including all supporting agencies such as the Personnel of the Ambulance and Police Services who played key roles for ensuring a successful simulation exercise.
GNFS is celebrating international firefighters’ day and launching its 60th anniversary in the country.
