In a bid to prioritize the well-being of students, MarkYolo’s Care recently organized a thought-provoking mental health awareness campaign. Led by the passionate advocate, Francis Owusu, the project aimed to shed light on the importance of mental health and provide valuable insights into actions that can harm it.
The event kicked off with an engaging speech that explained what mental health truly entails.
Mr Francis Owusu emphasized the need for students to prioritize their mental well-being, highlighting the impact it can have on their overall quality of life. The speech resonated with the audience, as it encouraged them to take proactive steps in nurturing their mental health.
Following the enlightening speech, micro discussions were held, delving into crucial topics such as human relations, anxiety, stress, and trauma. These discussions provided a safe and open space for students to share their experiences, concerns, and questions. To further assess the students’ mental well-being, questionnaires were distributed, allowing for a deeper understanding of any challenges they might be facing.
The micro discussions proved to be insightful and impactful, fostering a sense of empathy, support, and understanding among the students. It was heartening to witness the students engage in meaningful conversations, offering each other encouragement and advice.
Mr, Francis Owusu, Mr Williams Frimpong, Mr Mark Adabour, Madam Cathrine Appiah Nyarko, Madam Bernice Ofori, Madam Millicent Biney, the driving force behind this project, expressed immense pride in the students’ active participation and their willingness to address mental health issues. “It’s crucial that we create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable discussing their mental well-being,” Mr Francis Owusu stated. “By raising awareness and providing resources, we can empower them to take charge of their mental health journeys.”
The success of this mental health awareness campaign at Spiritan Technical Senior High School, Adankwame in the Atwima Nwabiagya North Municipality of the Ashanti Region of Ghana, on the 16th January, 2024, serves as a testament to the dedication and passion of both the organizers and the students involved. With projects like these, we can pave the way for a more compassionate and supportive society, one that values mental health as an integral part of overall well-being.
Mr Francis Owusu and the entire team are now looking to expand the reach of this project, seeking support from influential personalities to amplify the message of mental health awareness. By sharing their experiences and insights, they hope to inspire others to join the movement and make a positive impact on the lives of young individuals.
