There are reports of increasing fears among residents at Sokoban’s new site in the Ashanti Region are urgently calling for intervention from security personnel.
The worrying development, according to the residents is a result of rampant robbery which has hit some communities within the metropolis recently.
The media has discovered that these robberies were on the rise in the Sokoban new site, the last community within the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly which share a direct boundary with the Atwima Kwanwoma district.
Considering the situation unbearable, residents complained they are living and carrying out their daily activities in total fear as security in the area is nothing to write home about.
Motorbikes, Mobile phones, money, and many others including home appliances are the common materials many residents complain they are being robbed of.
According to aggrieved residents, there has not been a single police officer in the Police post which was built during the era of former Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye.
The Assembly member in the area, Hon Kwadwo Boateng has indicated the situation is being managed by the Neighborhood Watchdog Committee but because of the lack of security equipment and motivation, the situation keeps on increasing.
Investigations also revealed that the police patrol team for the past three years has stopped their night patrol in the area because of inadequate logistics to carry out operations.
