The poor performance of students at the basic education level has become a major source of concern to many parents at Adupri, a community in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region and are calling for immediate solution to the phenomenon.
Parents say the Adupri D/A JHS school has always competing with some other schools for the bottom position of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) ladder, while some were competing for top spots.
They attributed the abysmal performance of students in the BECE examination over lack of teacher’s, bad roads, lack of accomodations and poor infrastructure.
“The teachers don’t have accommodations in the community so they have to commute from Nyinahin to Adupri on this bad roads.they stressed.
A visit at Adupri D/A school saw the Junior High School students sitting under a dilapidated wooden structure.
Mensah Kingsley an old student of Adupri JHS and some parents admitted that their best student had grade (32) and the last was (45) which was very bad though they all had opportunity to attend free SHS.
The Assembly Member of Aboboyunu-Adupri electoral area, Darko Clinton said, lack of funds at the Atwima Mponua District Assembly has halted all developmental projects in the area.
