Residents of Atwima Agogo, Abuakwa Canan, together with leadership is Atwima Youth for Development group in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency have seriously urged government through the Local government and the Roads and Highways ministries, to as matter of urgency use the ex-gratias of their Member of Parliament, Hon. Emmanuel Agyei Anhwere and the MCE, Michael Amoah Awuku to complete the halted developmental projects.
Constructions of the Atwima Agogo bridge, Abuakwa Canan and Abakomadi road commenced few days to the NPP’s Parliamentary primaries as speculations had it that the constructions were funded by the assembly.
But the works have come to a halt immediately after the primaries till date as reasons are not yet known.
Media folks who visited the sites can confidently report that constructors have left the sites with their equipment.
Residents who spoke with the media expressed their ordeals been through by robbers on bridge construction site on the Atwima Agogo – Maakro road.
“Robbers are harassing us in the evenings and even at dawns since cars and tricycles (Pragya) can no longer ply the road”.
“Since there are no vehicular movement on the road, we are either forced to walks miles to our homes or boarding tricycles to the construction site and get down and walk pass the bridge. This expose us fully into the strong arms of the robbers”. The aggrieved residents said.
“We are therefore expressing the ordeal we are going through to the government and calling on the government to either use the ex-gratias of our MP and MCE to complete the halted bridges and roads.”
They added that, should the government fail to heed their cry and come to their aid immediately, we shall stage a mammoth demonstration against the MP, MCE and the NPP government.
The convener for Atwima Youth for Development, Foster Otchere on his part sounded a caution to both the MP and the MCE not to use the assembly’s common fund to enrich themselves since they know their times have come to an end this 2024.
He also added that under Hon. Anhwere and MCE Awuku, the municipality has seen lesser or no development in terms of roads, schools, employment, and among others.
