Ghana legend Mohammed Polo has predicted doom for Hearts of Oak trainer, Aboubakar Ouattara, saying he can never turn around the club’s fortunes.
The Phobians started the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League campaign on a poor note, succumbing to two consecutive defeats after two games.
The Ghanaian giants shockingly suffered a 1-0 defeat in their opening game against debutants Basake Holy Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium followed by a 2-0 loss to Heart of Lions on Sunday.
Last season, the former Premier League champions faced challenges after finishing 14th on the standings at the end of the campaign.
In an interview with Koforidua-based Bryt FM, Polo, a legend of Hearts of Oak questioned the capabilities of coach Ouattara and has therefore called for his sacking.
“Ouattara nearly took the team to relegation last season. So why do you maintain such a coach? He quizzed whiles expressing his worry about the club’s performance.
“He (Ouattara) can never turn around the fortunes of the club. He is not a coach that can be given much time to excel. It took Jones Attuquayefio five-years to build the team to be competitive in Ghana and across Africa but Ouatarra’s case is different. If debutants, Basake Holy Stars can beat you at home, then when are you going to raise your game?
“This is not the Hearts of Oak we used to know. The team is lacking good management and a proper coach who can add some value to the players to deliver” he added.
Hearts of Oak will face Bechem United in matchday three of the Ghana Premier League this weekend.
It is important to note that the Ghanaian powerhouse has adopted the University of Ghana Stadium as their home venue following the closure of the Accra Sports Stadium.
