A patient suspected to have been infected with Coronavirus has been quarantined at Hawa Memorial Hospital in Akyem Osiem in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region.
A source at the hospital indicates that the Suspect was quarantined after he was diagnosed with symptoms related to Coronavirus. A sample of the Patient has been sent to Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research for testing. This is the second suspected case of COVID-19 recorded by the facility. The first case was however tested negative.
The Administrator the Hospital Ruben Tweneboah Oppong, confirmed to the case to mybrytfmonline when contacted. He, however, appealed to residents to remain calm.
The Hospital on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, received some Personal Protective Equipment, PPEs, from Former President John Dramani to help frontline workers in the fight against Coronavirus Pandemic.
According to the Ghana Health Service, GHS, as of 6th April 2020, 11:30pm a total of 287 cases of COVID-19 with five (5) deaths have been recorded. The regional distribution of the cases is as follows: Greater Accra Region has most cases (258) followed by the Ashanti Region (18), Northern Region (10), Upper West Region (1), Eastern Region (1) and Upper East Region (1).
A total of 172 cases were reported from the routine and enhanced surveillance activities and those from travelers under mandatory quarantine in both Accra and Tamale are 115.
