Since the creation of Abuakwa North Constituency, this is the first time we have seen four people contesting for the seat.
FACTS
Two males, two females
Two lawyers, a teacher and a pharmacist
Two old faces, two new faces.
Lawyer Kay has experience in this contest compared to other aspirants.
We have had two males J. B. Danquah-Adu and Prof. ascending the seat compared to one female (Hajia). Will it be another Female or Male?
The NPP seat here from the inception of the constituency had had persons who do not reside here ascending contesting and eventually ascending the seat. (Work, education and other social-related issues the cause).
All candidates (aspirants) from the days of J. B had NOT participated actively or been in the frontline of constituency politics until their intention to contest.
RUMOR
Rumor has it that a high powered call have been made to protect the interest of the incumbent. With rumors that the president has plans for her in his next administration so no female should contest. The target of this rumor is NANA SERWAA. I wish her well at the vetting.
ASSESSMENT
From where I stand, I don’t foresee two people being disqualified. Will it be one? For that am not sure. Precedent which saw J. B, Prof, Hajia, Ampadu and Kay going through will be the guiding principle.
As I write this Kofi Obeng Mensah as well all other candidates has successfully passed their vetting. Kudos to them and I wish all well.
I wish the 4 well.
Who draws the first blood?
The Battle Lines have been drawn.
I shall be back…..
