The Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Brong Ahafo Presbytery Launches Scholarship and Skills Development Fund to support Brilliant but needy individuals of the church who are willing to either further their education or otherwise learn skills training to realize their dreams.
The fund was launched today at the PCG – Ebenezer Congregation in Sunyani last weekend.
Addressing the invitees on the theme: “Come over to Macedonia and help us”, Rev. Benjamin Appiah, Chairperson of the Brong Ahafo Presbytery said, there are a lot of brilliant and needy individuals who lack parental or guardian support, as a result, they are unable to progress in life.
Therefore, there is a need for the church to come together and mobilize funds to support such individuals.
According to the Chairperson, he started such an initiative some years back in one of his places of ministry and it has yielded fruitful results for almost all the beneficiaries. He mentioned that the entire church is now benefiting from these people.
Rev. Benjamin Appiah appealed to the well-to-do and another philanthropist to donate towards the building of the Scholarship and Skills Development fund.
This, he said can keep at least the Youth active and committed to serving the Lord.
Nana Kwabena Yeboah Ababio, Krontihene of Odomasi No.1, who is also the Regional stool lands officer, office of the Administrator of stool lands-Kumasi, and a professional member of the Ghana Institute of surveyors, advised that Presbyterian Church of Ghana takes ownership of the initiative and make sure every congregation raises fund to support the initiative.
Nana Kwabena Yeboah who chaired the occasion pledged to donate an additional GH¢5,000 to his initial donation.
He expressed interest in the fund having a strategic plan, which he thinks would contribute to the sustainability of the fund to benefit many people in the foreseeable future.
He called on all to embrace this good initiative in good faith and support it.
The gathering of the few people who were able to attend the occasion was able to realize GH¢32,600 making it the seed money for the project.
