The National Communication Authority (NCA) under the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation today launched a Five-Year Strategic Plan to guide its operations for the period of 2024 to 2028 and to move the Authority from Good to Great
The Sector Minister, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (MP), who launched the programme on the theme: Moving the NCA from a Good Regulator to a Great Regulator” , mentioned that, the strategy would focus on promoting accelerated digital transformation and industry growth through the efficient and effective management and use of radio frequency spectrum resources.
Mrs Owusu-Ekuful said this was also to facilitate the roll-out of the latest generation of mobile technologies and services and to promote their use by various sectors of the economy. It also focuses on modifying regulations to support the development of convergent services, expansion of the market and promotion of competition.
She reiterated the fact that technology was not just an operational aid, but a strategic asset, and businesses that fail to adapt or innovate technological, risk becoming obsolete.
The Director-General of NCA, Dr. Joe Anokye said although the NCA has maintained its vision, “A world class communications regulator that facilitates innovative, reliable, and sustainable communication solutions to meet stakeholders expectations, the Authority has, however, recast its Mission statement for the next five years as ” Moving from Good to Great regulator: An innovative, agile, professional and proactive regulator, adaptive to emerging changes in the communications and digital eco-system and delivering optimally to all its stakeholders.”
According to him, the NCA will henceforth focus on research,innovation, and process improvement to stay ahead of the technology curve and remain versatile and adaptive to the fast- changing communications ecosystem .
“The Authority will also build coordination and collaborative structures for enhanced engagement with stakeholders. This is expected to help improve relationships with its stakeholders and also enhance its responsiveness to their needs” he indicated.
