At the Alliance for Science Global Consortium meeting in Nairobi, Kenya, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh opined that the sustainability challenge for Africa calls for an urgent need for the continent to achieve economic growth, social equity, and environmental protection while ensuring that the progress Africa make today does not come at the expense of the quality of life for our future generations.
Addressing the sustainability of our planet, Dr Opoku Prempeh believe is not an option—it is an obligation.
He further made the call that to create a future where our children and, in fact, generations yet unborn thrive, we must embrace political leadership that champions sustainability in all sectors
“We need political champions to promote sustainability! But beyond that, we also need citizens, businesses, and institutions to hold leaders accountable. Political champions alone cannot drive change—we must all demand sustainable policies, participate in green initiatives, and make responsible choices in our daily lives” the running mate for the NPP in the 2024 general elections stated.
According to him, these useful discussions will go a long way to reposition our continent for a sustainable future and he was excited to have been part of this engagement.
