The Member of Parliament for Ada Constituency, Hon. Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, has expressed strong confidence in the performance of the Ghanaian cedi against the US dollar.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Hon. Cudjoe stated that despite claims from the Minority that the dollar has not reached 17 cedis, Ghanaians are fully aware of the reality and can judge for themselves. She emphasized that the cedi is currently performing well globally, adding that the government deserves commendation for maintaining a strong currency.
She further noted the importance of educating market women on how to handle the cedi, stressing that perception plays a role in value. Using her own experience at a recent IPU event, she mentioned that she presented herself not as an elderly woman but as a young competitor and won a leadership position. In the same way, she believes the cedi should be seen as a valuable currency to earn respect internationally.
Hon. Cudjoe congratulated the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and all government financial agencies for their efforts in safeguarding the currency. She encouraged continuous commitment to ensure the cedi remains strong for future generations.
