The foreign ministers of Mali, Guinea and Burkina Faso are in Addis Ababa ahead of this year’s African Union summit to lobby to be let back into the organisation.
The foreign ministers said they have met with their counterparts from the Comoros, who currently holds the AU presidency, and Ethiopia.
The three countries were suspended from the AU and the Economic Community of West African States following military coups.
Mali’s foreign ministry has said that the suspensions are hindering the transition to civilian rule in the three Sahel countries.
