In a display of swift response and empathy, Hon. Lariba Zuweira Abudu- Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection – MoGCSP, accompanied by the Chief Director, Dr. Afisah Zakariah, has led a team from the Ministry on a working visit to the West Mamprusi Municipality in the North- East Region.
This endeavor comes in the wake of the intense torrential rainfall that occurred on August 9, which led to the displacement of numerous community members and substantial destruction of properties throughout the region.
The primary objective of this visit is to gain firsthand insights into the situation on the ground, directly connecting with the affected individuals and communities.
The Minister and her team are resolute in their determination to extend heartfelt condolences, express solidarity, and assess the challenges being faced by those who have been adversely impacted by the recent downpour.
Moreover, this visit serves as a crucial opportunity to identify possible avenues of immediate assistance and support.
During their interactions with the affected residents, Hon. Lariba Zuweira Abudu and her delegation aimed to not only empathize but also to actively engage in dialogue sessions.

Community Visits and Engagement: The team ventured into the affected communities, notably Boamasa and Tinguri, where they engaged in candid discussions with the local populace. Tinguri Dam Inspection : The delegation also embarked on a comprehensive inspection of the collapsed Tinguri Dam. This initiative demonstrates the Ministry’s dedication to comprehensively understanding the infrastructural damage and its implications.
School Assessment: The team took time to inspect the schools impacted by the rainfall, underscoring the government’s concern for the well-being of the youth and the integrity of educational institutions.
